PT. 3 Brown Butter Poetry & Vibe Open Mic

Brown Butter Poetry & Vibe Open Mic

Monday September 16th, I hosted the third series of Brown Butter Poetry & Vibe open mic presented by Vow to Self at Daily Press in BK. Everybody that came through made the night phenomenal!

An eclectic night of brave souls sharing their hearts and arts on stage. The tunes brought to us by Gflamee who always knows just the right songs to get the room grooving. New friends from the previous open mics came back to feel the inspiration once again, that within itself was confirmation that this space is something magical.

Thank you to every soul who came through! On the mic and in the audience, y’all keep the Vibe going. And to those who messaged me about how much they enjoyed themselves, I appreciate you!

Our special guest Jeary Sylves commanded the room with poems about his locs not being dreadful, but a crown fit for a king. Along with the state of our streets today. But before that, he warmed up with crowd participation, drawing us all back to present and into his world.

To close, I performed a new poem, AIR, which I wrote for the Air Symposium by Sustainable Brooklyn. I’ll be sharing more of that poem soon. 😉

Until then, catch me at the next Brown Butter Poetry & Vibe on October 21st! Check out my events page for other upcoming performances.

As always, if you have a vow you wanna share, dm it to @vowtoself + we’ll post it on our page. Women Make The World Go Round t-shirts are available for sale, add it to your fall wardrobe.
