Brown Butter Book Reading - Release Celebration

May 23rd, 2019 was a special day. I hosted the release celebration + reading of my debut book, Brown Butter. We gathered in waves at Ocean Hill’s Daily Press Coffee + Bar. Experience presented by Vow to Self.

My sister Candice came through from Boston, along with my dear friend + photographer of these cool flicks + Brown Butter’s book cover, Unique. Can’t forget my girl Isabelle all the way from Florida! To say the most, I felt at home.

My boyfriend’s mom got my outfit made in Ghana so you already know I was feeling queenly, Reeboks + all. Not to mention alllll of my beautiful friends who came to show love, anddddd the random people who stayed just because they liked the vibe! Tbrh, it was a dream come to life.

We were honored with performances by guest poets Dante Clark + Starr Davis, both whose words filled the crowded room with awe. And the dj? Gflame set THE perfect tone throughout the night.

I read a few poems from Brown Butter. Lynnor, titled after my father, to start:

“My father was a man with an impeccable heart. On my poetic points of views, he played a pivotal part. Now I pen him in these poems to bring spirit to art.”

Then, I was joined by Franky Payne on guitar to perform a few more poems from Brown Butter. A crowd favorite, Shades, had the room swaying lol.

I appreciate all the love I felt that night. Every person’s presence made the night what it was. Thanks to those who bought Brown Butter! More experiences coming soon. :)
